how did the mods become mods?

can you please tell your story of what you did to become a mod because i think it would be interesting to find out, i guess rachie became one because she has an amazing story with so many followers, i was wondering about the others.

Once upon a time, mods would be open to 'applications' where you could apply. Sometimes, though, they're just chosen based on various factors.

Others, such as myself, were just around here for a long time. Getdare has close to 40,000 users, and I was one of the first 200. A lot of the old users (who signed up before 2007) who have been around awhile are or have been mods

I guess it was because I was very "active" as a poster and a user.
And none of the other mods objected when the idea was brought up for me to be a moderator, so, yeah.
Most of the mods did things to help and contribute to the site before they were modded and not specifically for that, and I know that's something that gets noticed when looking for new moderators.
I know I wanted Rachie as a mod because she's just amazing, basically, her posts, her general friendliness and ability to always give 110%.
She's also dazzlingly good with numbers which I just really like.
