Anyone into Musicals, Theatre, Broadway and West end shows?
I'm curious.
I grew up always in the Performing arts club and a did workshop for two summers as a kid. One of those summers, I played the Wicked witch of the West from The Wizard if OZ. Are there any other Theatre geeks here? Let's chat. Share your experiences with theatre. It doesn't matter if you were a part of a play before or not. Even if you're just a fan, speak up!!! My favorite Musical is the ever classic PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. If you know Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo, we NEED to be friends!

I can't sing so I was never in a musical, but I was a theatre kid in high school. Most notable role I had was Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace... As far as musicals go, I've always wanted to see Avenue Q

I love all things fine arts, though I've never been a performer. I prefer to work behind the scenes (running lights, sound booth, etc.). I've always dreamt of seeing Wicked live on broadway... maybe one day.

I only heard about Avenue Q but not really what it's about. And I really should be ashamed I don't know the play you roled in
(Roled isn't a word is it?) [(Eh. I made it up, so it is now)] I'm gonna Google new musicals tonight. Right now I'm obsessed over Carrie the.musical based of the book by Stephen king.

Sunny, behind the scenes magic is a big part of the whole production.
I had to do a measly English skit with amateur equipment for a finals once....it was so hard!

I've got experience - mostly as a tech, but I play the bass as well :-) Got a gig coming up playing Barnum, if you know it! Did Thoroughly Modern Millie in the spring with the same youth company and it was loads of fun being in the band and not being responsible for a change :-P

I actually work on the business side of Broadway. I performed in High School but decided to go into the money side of things, so I do marketing for shows. Still get to meet the stars though, which is fun

That's cool! I always wanted to try for the orchestra pits. I wish I learned how to play an instrument other than my voice I tried self learning the keyboard but it would be so much better with real instruction. I sorta play the xylophone though..
Marketing as well as advertising is also fun, but I leave that to the peeps who really know numbers. What(who) did you play as in highschool?

I'm big into all things theater - I've seen 7ish shows on broadway at least 15 touring company shows and 10 community theater shows.wicked without a doubt is my favorite. I'm also going to see book of Mormon this fall. I've also been in 8 plays - the community theater didnt do musicals so I've never had that option. And in middle school I was in high school musical!

If you liked Phantom of the Opera then you're in for disappointment if you ever watch Love Never Dies.
The Lion King is amazing partially as it's a childhood movie favourite that has been redone quite well. Costumes and scenery make this one amazing. Wicked was quite good but overrated/overhyped by plenty of people who seem to have seen it as their first musical. I'm quite partial to Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals so I'm a fan of Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar. Other musicals I've quite enjoyed were Grease and We Will Rock You as they probably fall into a similar category to The Lion King as they're kinda childhood movies. Aaannd Billy Elliot wins the award for the musical I've most hated watching. I've seen far too many musicals. And I'm lazy to type them all out. |

JCS was okay for me and I can't wait for school of rock on Broadway. Sierra Boggess is on there! I only saw a few vids of billy Elliot. I like it because of some choreography but I can't really say much more on it. Lion king's cast is awesome!

I love musicals, I can't sing, can't dance, can't play an instrument and have no connection to the world of theatre whatsoever (unless dramatic monologues count, but even then I've never done so professionally)... As for those I've seen, in Londons West end I saw Chicago, I saw phantom of the Opera in Edinburgh (with John Owen Jones as the titular role, absolutely the best phantom there is), I have the 2 les mis concerts on dvd and had a CD from the 2010 tour, and I've got the Broadway production of Sweeney Todd with Angela Landsbury... I want to see it live, but it never leaves the west end... I'd also love to see Jekyll and Hyde, but I missed the Glasgow leg of the tour, so instead I ended up at rocky horror... Not quite the same, really
