As expected, a package arrived the day before the taping. In it were the clothes for the show: sweat pants and shirt, and socks, I was to provide my own shoes. In it also was a letter, letting me know that there would be a car picking me up at 7 the next morning, and what to expect when I arrive. After checking in, there would be a “Meet and Greet” over breakfast with the other contestants. Then the taping would begin. Lunch would be served after the taping was over, and we would meet with the production staff for a debriefing.

I found a pair of old gym shoes that, even when tied, I could slip off pretty easily, and spent a good part of the day practicing getting undressed quickly. Satisfied that I wasn’t going to improve much on my time, I went to bed early, hoping to be well rested for the next morning.

I barely slept a wink!

After a restless night, my alarm went off at 6 am. Fortunately, I didn’t have much to do to “get ready”…a quick shower, a glass of juice to wake me up (no, I don’t drink coffee…vile stuff!), and I got dressed, and waited for the car to arrive.

Right at 7, a nice looking Cadillac pulled up outside. I went out to meet it, and the driver, a very hot looking blonde, got out and opened a back door for me to get in. She got back in the car, and we were on our way.

“It’s good to see you again, Rob,” the driver said once we were underway. Now, I was sure I would’ve remembered someone as good looking as her if I had seen her before, but nothing was connecting.

So most eloquently, I said “Ummmmm….”

“When you came in for your interview with Karen? I saw your ‘performance’ in her office.” Now it clicked! Well, she certainly had seen me before…all of me!

“Excited for today’s show?” she asked. What could I say…I told her I was. “Good! You’ll have a great time,” she said, winking at me from the rear view mirror.

The rest of the trip was just small talk…but I kept wondering just what she knew about the upcoming show.
