I miss this series

Right, so first of all. I'm sorry for the long break without even a notice that i would take a break from this story. I have started it back up and will post the next chapter soon. But i will do a few changes going forward. I will finish this whole story eventually. But i'm gonna do it in parts/arcs (Still the same thread).

What i mean by that is, the next couple of chapters will continue from where i left off and continue with the same current story line until i reach a natural point where one part ends and the next part of the story starts. Think of it like chapters in a proper book or a manga/comic arc. And to be on the safe side i will let you know when the next break happens. And then i'll start posting new chapters again once i have the next arc planned out.

This is to make sure i can keep posting without leaving anyone hanging in the middle of something. Without forcing myself to write something just to write, as it would probably end up sub par to my standards at least.

Chapter 9

"Hey!” A voice shouted.

Ruby didn’t react until she felt a foot kick her lightly in the back.

“Hey! Wake up!” Nathan looked annoyed where he stood leaning over her.

But before either of them managed to say anything else, the door shot open and another guy walked in. This guy was not someone Ruby recognized from when they got captured. He had long dark brown hair that covered most of his face, along with a matching messy beard. He was the closest thing she had seen to what she imagined a cave man would look like. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a pair of really dirty jeans.

“James! Morning. I uh... i woke her up for you.” Nathan seemed to struggle for words as he hadn't expected the sudden interruption.

James looked back at him. “I can see that, i assume you have a reason for the blanket as well? I’d hate to tell Mike that you’re making our prisoners feel at home already.”

“Yeah right...” Nathan answered back, already sounding more confident after having had some time to think of a response. “It rained all fucking night and i needed to stay warm while i stood guard. “Get up!” He grabbed her arms and lifted her up on her feet, before bending down to cut the ropes around her feet. “Now follow me.” He commanded as he headed for the door.

Chapter 10

“Step inside.” James commanded as he held the door open for Ruby. “He is waiting for you.”

Ruby gave him a nervous look before entering. The door slammed shut behind her and she could see a man sitting at a table across the room. Almost two weeks since last update, sorry about that. But i've been quite busy, and the days just kept going. Anyway here's the next part.

Chapter 12

Chapter 13

“Okay, coming.” Ruby whispered again and got up. She stopped behind him, placed her arms on his shoulders and peeked out from behind him. “Is it clear?”

“For now. We gotta hurry though.” He rushed out the door headed straight for the outskirts of the encampment, towards a small cluster of trees where he stopped and waited for Ruby to follow him.

Ruby however just looked at him. He walked the wrong way. The place they kept Annie in was in the other direction, and she was not about to leave her behind. Defying his escape plan, she made her way towards Annie instead. Shortly after though she could hear Nathan catching up to her.

“Please Ruby, we can’t get caught here. I’m risking everything to get you out of here. They’ll probably kill me if they catch us.” He was short of breath as he crouched down behind her. They were about thirty meters away from the place where they kept Annie, and they could see one guy sitting outside keeping watch.

“I’m not leaving her here alone.” Ruby stayed still and just watched the guard in front of her, waiting for him to do something.

Nathan sighed.

“Did you honestly expect me to leave her after what she’s been through? She did all that to protect me. And if you think i’m...” Ruby tried to keep her voice down, but the guard must have heard something as he started walking towards them. Nathan covered her mouth again and forced her down on the ground.

“Fine.” He whispered back. “We don’t have much time. I’ll distract him, you take my backpack and get her out okay? Now stay down.” He stood up and walked towards the guard.

“Yo Jake!” He waved at the other man. “Didn’t mean to scare you, just had to take a piss.

“Oh it’s just you.” Jake replied. “Why would you do that all the way over here though? You’re supposed to keep watch over the other girl.”

“She’s not going anywhere, don’t worry. I was just wondering if...” Nathan stopped speaking as he noticed Ruby sneaking up behind Jake.

“If what?” Jake asked back. “I think you should get back to your wa-.”

Jake fell to the ground as Ruby slammed a rock to the back of his head. She could see blood on the edge of the rock as it rolled away from him.
