Default Like button on blog comments?

It would really be nice to have a quick 'like' button on comments to blogs. Just to acknowledge that you have read and appreciate the responses.

Actually, I'd love to have that on this site in general. The 'thanks' button can only be used a limited number of times, which I still don't quite understand.

I would just like to have something to simply let a poster know that I have read and appreciate their comment.

I disagree. It is bad enough that I know that only n people care to read the blog I spent two days on. To also see that of those n people none was bothered enough to even press "like" would be... too much.

Also, experience shows [Facebook, I think - I can't remember - but it's been researched by real people] that if you can "get away" with just pressing "like", you are much less likely to join the discussion.

So would I! But "liking" isn't the way.

I know most people aren't bothered anyway. I can live with that.

That is a good point. However I do think that people who really want to join the discussion will do so anyway.

But yes, there are drawbacks I agree.

Hm. I see it differently. I would most probably discontinue my blog. It is discouraging enough that I can see how few care to read it.

I believe the research showed the opposite. (But I can't really argue as I can't remember where I read the thing. I'm pretty sure it was Facebook's research, though. Or Tumblr?)
