Personally, I don't like it. There are certain aspects that are less 'consenting adults' and more 'manipulative tool'. Still hot as hell in some places though.

For some reason I feel there is something very wrong in that one... But seriously, I feel very scared about the final result. The book was... meh, ok. It had it's moments but really, it was mostly just plain softcore porn. Nothing too enlightening, exciting or revealing. Just like a long, long fantasy. I don't mean it was a bad book, I just think it's not really movie material. And now I just fear they butchered it. Just have to wait and see.

I've gotta say, while I thoroughly enjoyed the books, I really don't think it'll translate well into a movie. Too much of what made the books great was cerebral....what she was thinking, feeling and experiencing. I really don't think it'll convey well to film at all.

If nothing else, i'm sure the movie will bomb at cinema level (how many people would openly go see it in public?) but will pick up considerably at the DVD release

personally I found the book rather dull, I imagine that it can be rather hot for vanilla women, but me as a more "experienced" person in the scene found it too weak.

But since the book is written for those housewifes who have dull sex two times a week I think it's good. Maybe a nice way to give a first glance at the scene.

And I really hope this doesn't become one of those films focused around sex where they don't even show tits to keep it child friendly....

Hah! I just love the idea of making a movie about softcore bdsm and keeping it "child friendly". What's the point in that? It doesn't have to be pure porn, for sure, but the topic really isn't something you can censor forever... It takes away a lot from the actual plot.

And yes, the plot is kinda weak. I hoped more from it, since it had a good slow start, got kinda exciting and then failed to deliver more... I still like the Secretary most out of all bdsm influenced movies.

I realise how grumpy I'm appearing at the moment but I didn't really like the secretary either. It was a bit "dry" and maybe I missed something important but at the end did her dad really act like he was totally cool with it and encourage her? Because that's how it looked.

If it's been made in 'Murica I won't be suprised if they tried to make it child friendly. They are so prudish! And sure, not making it into a porn sounds like a smart move, but don't hide bodies by shooting the film the way it's covered by something from the decor, absolutely hate it. It should just be part of the movie.

I've never seen the secretary, I shall give it a try soon.

I heard that there was going to be two cuts? One more graphic with an NC-17 and one with an R. Unfortunately we don't have an equivalent in Britain so there will probably just be one, an 18, resulting in it flopping.

To what Damion said about the good part of the book we're the thoughts.. Maybe they do it with a voice over, a narrator.
Maybe they should hire Morgan Freeman for it, could be interesting....

Well, I didn't say it was a very good movie. It was ok at best... but haven't really seen better of it's kind. Still, the beginning and middle are quite fun. The ending... meh. A bit disappointing. For some reason the bdsm movies and books don't know what would make a good ending?

Well... how could you make a nice ending about a BDSM relation?
The only two possibilities I can think of are a break up and a happily ever after

Yeah, I mean it was watchable. I think it is because a lot of them have the same plot. "Girl discovers BDSM with sexy, successful guy" and once they have gotten past this first basic step there is no where else for them to go.

OH BUT THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GO IF THEY OPENED UP THEIR MINDS AND BECAME A LITTLE MORE IMAGINATIVE! Like maybe one of them gets in an accident and they can't have sex any more, for instance if the guys is paralysed from the waist down. It'd be interesting to see a BDSM relationship without that aspect.
