It is often true that problems run in chains, or cascades. One thing goes wrong and then exposes a weakness in another, then the added strain on us causes something else to crack, and so on. This is also how a lot of real-world accidents happen: one bad thing happens and a safety policy that was not followed, or safety feature that was over-ridden "just this once" will then let the problem propagate...and affect yet another thing. Yup, that's life.

So...drop back a bit to get ahead of that propagation - those dominoes. Make sure you have a solid fence line in your life behind which things are working out for you and the likely problems are outside that fence, no matter how far back you have to go to get that safe zone. Then move out slowly and calmly, with greater assurance that any dominoes that topple will not be within your safe zone.
