It was her birthday or the more common term for people of her kind, dependence day.
To "celebrate" her so called guardian pulled her out of bed, before, placing a black string necklace on her.
Then he forced himself on her. She screamed kicking and begging him to stop.
"Shut up." Was the word she heard before she was slapped.
She ran and locked herself in the bathroom. She curled into fatal position, "It'll stop. He can't do that. He can't...."
She may have thought that because it was unmentioned in the past, but on her dependence day, it was perfectly legal and illegal of her to refuse.
