Like, shockingly good. Thom Yorke and the Radiohead boys are utter geniuses.
But it depends on what style you're into tbh. I could give you so much stuff that's good but it's one hell of a wide range. Jeff Buckley's like alternative-soft rock-BREAKMYF*CKINGHEART kinda stuff. Radiohead's more FRIGGIN WEIRD. Haha like real alternative yum stuff.. Hahah but there's some amazing rap/r'n'b stuff out there too. So it really depends on ya...
Seeing as you do have the Beatles in there (and the only other band from that list that I know of is Motley Crue - but never heard their stuff), I'm gonna go the English way.
English bands:
Radiohead. GENIUSES.
Oasis.
Portishead. Amazing. Remind me somewhat of Radiohead. With a chick singer.

I'd suggest Vampire Weekend (even though they're not English! :P But remind me of like the Beatles.. Kinda)
