Chapter 4
It was Saturday morning, six o'clock. Paul had told me to meet him at nine o'clock in the city at their training centre. I live about an hours train ride out of the city so I figured if I was on the train by seven thirty I'd be good. I started my day as normal, shower, breakfast, get dressed, but the whole time I was doing these everyday tasks I felt different. I wasn't just a boy going about his day looking to prosper in society. No! I was now an object of women's desire, and it felt great.
The train ride into the city seemed to take for ever. I swear if I had been timing it I could have been sitting for at least two hours, but maybe it was just my nerves. I left the train when I got to Flinders street station, walked off the platform and got into a tram. It was now a quarter to nine. I left the tram five minutes later out the front of this old and broken down looking building. "Surely this can't be the place" I said to myself. But went I checked the address again it was correct so I entered the building.
Have you ever seen a house that looks like crap on the outside and a mansion on the inside? Well this was on of those. The moment I stepped through the door everything changed. I walked into a little room with a desk at one end. There was a women sitting behind it. The room was well adorned with photos of people, strippers should I say and between every photo was a mirror for some reason; aesthetic value I can only assume. There were plants and fancy lights, almost like the entrance to a hotel but on a much, much smaller scale.
"Can I help you sir? the woman behind the desk asked politely.
"Ah yes" I responded, "I'm here to see Paul, is this the right place?"
"May I ask what it's regarding?"
"My name's Daniel and I'm supposed to start my training today" I didn't want to say the "S" word just in case I had the wrong place.
"Oh yes, Daniel, just walk through to your right and you'll find him in the dance room with the others" she said, now much more cheerfully. "Others?" I thought to myself, "What others?"
As I walked into the dance room it was just what I had stereotypically thought a dance room would look like. Large open room with a high ceiling, one big mirrored wall and polished floorboards with a little bit of carpet at the opposite side from the mirrored wall.
"Daniel!" a well built, well groomed man said to me. "How are you?"
He looked like he was in his fifties but he had the body of a thirty year old. "Uhhhh yeah I'm great, Paul is it?" I asked the man.
"Yep that's me" he said enthusiastically, "so how are you buddy?"
"Oh! Yeah I'm good Paul, really good."
"That's fantastic! We like it when our newbies are energetic and happy"
"Well that's me!" my personality started to pick up again, "Always happy and ready for anything"
It was at this point that I noticed four other guys in the room. Two were your typical big muscled, shinny white teeth, "perfect man" kind of guys. One guy was smaller, probably closer to my build but a little bit bigger and the last guy was kind of on the fat side. The group walked closer to me, all with big smiles on their faces. One of the big guys spoke first, "Hi Daniel, I'm Jason, and this is Dave-o" he said pointing to the other big guy, "Cam" pointing to the smaller guy, "and Lez" he said finally pointing to the fat guy, "We all work for Paul, too"
"These are the guys Dan" Paul said to me. "Anyway, we better get some practice done cause Cam has to leave in an hour or two for a hens party, if you could just watch for a bit Dan so you can see what it is we do for practice and then we can go from there, ok?"
"Sure thing Paul" I said with a smile as I took a seat at the back of the room.
The guys all lined up facing the mirrored wall and Paul ran off to the side to start the CD player that was on a table. I was so excited to be seeing this. I couldn't wait to learn some moves. The music started "Ok guys, five, six, seven, eight" Paul shouted out. They began to dance.
