I really don't think it is at all reasonable to demand pics. You wouldn't demand that they break a different limit just to satisfy your trust issues. I agree that girls certainly receive more attention on this site than men and that is probably why a good percentage of the guys on here do it but that isn't necessarily a good thing. You wouldn't believe the amount of persistent creeps that just can't accept that you don't want to talk to them. I'm not saying that you are a creep, I don't know you at all but personally, i'd never send out pics unless I really knew and trusted them.
