Transgender Teen's Suicide

A 17 year-old boy in Ohio committed suicide. This is what she said.
"Please don't be sad, it's for the better. The life I would've lived isn't worth living in ... because I'm transgender," the note said. "I could go into detail explaining why I feel that way, but this note is probably going to be lengthy enough as it is. To put it simply, I feel like a girl trapped in a boy's body, and I've felt that way ever since I was 4. I never knew there was a word for that feeling, nor was it possible for a boy to become a girl, so I never told anyone and I just continued to do traditionally 'boyish' things to try to fit in."

I'm not transgender, but i believe they have right to be who they are. They have right for happines as other people have right. They dont hurt nobody being transgende.

I never will understand how could a parent do that to there own kid.

After all the positive support to the trans community after this incident an internet group formed "Go Truck Yourself" that encourages trans people to kill themselves. They ordered on FB to all members to phone trans support hotlines, including those dedicated to preventing suicide, in order to block them. "Go Truck Yourself" was shut down but it's member are still posting hate comments and blocking trans support pages.

Never will understand this peoples. Trans are not hurting anybody and still some want to see them die.

This is a tragic story although from the exert you've posted it looks it couldn't be avoided as she was aware that there was treatment available and still chose to kill herself. Counselling needs to be available though to help people come to terms with who they are, help them through what I imagine is a traumatic transition period and support them if people around them aren't supportive.

Having said that the population are very ill informed when it comes to trans people and it needs to be made quite clear that they are just men and women in the wrong body. This needs to start in school as the only time people normally see transegendered people are as characters of ridicule in TV programs and shemales in porn. If people realised why people go through a sex change people would be far more tolerant and it would also let people who are trans know they are not the only ones.
