Have you had any takers? It seems to me that you would have so much power that almost everyone would cower away. I suggest that you post at least some examples of what may be awaiting an applicant. This may then lead to establishing enough trust to give it a go.

I have had quite a lot of responses to this actually, some people are apprehensive at first but end up becoming very excited about it, especially because they don't know what I plan on doing so I won't be giving any examples.

Yes. Please have them write some reference letters to the thread. Then the timid might communicate with them off-thread. Then again, if you are too busy with the quite a few that you have, don't bother.
