Messy play and wastefulness

So I've always been a fan of messy dares and what not, but now that I am trying to pick up dares again I realized something: Food play does not appeal to me because of it wastefulness. While it always was easy to play around with chocolate, canned beans (with sauce) or marshmallow fluff, it now feels kind of wrong.

Food is getting more and more expensive every day and it just feels wrong to basically throw it away just for some fun play. Am I alone in this? Maybe I am being pedantic?

What other kind of stuff might be a good alternative?

I've thought of this too and don't like the wasteful aspect of it. On the one hand things like chocolate and whipped cream, etc aren't really depriving someone of a nutrious meal, but it does still seem like a waste of money. One alternative is to stick to things that have already spoiled/expired (which has the extra "benefit" of making the dares even more gross in some instance:). Some other alternative non-food substances are obviously available like dirt/mud, paint, oil, glue, etc.

It is true that chocolate itself is not really a crucial food source (although some beg to differ) but it is not only the product itself, but it also needs to transported around and if less chocolate was eaten, they could be farming different stuff than cacaobeans for example.

The spoiled/expired thing is a good point. Maybe I should incorporate that into my dares because I won't know what I'd be taking home :)

Gunge and the like is the simplest route around such concerns. There are also places that specialise in selling expired products, so past the use by date, but still safe.
