I'll go first: Oh what a beautiful face I have found in this place, which is circling all around the sun, and when we meet on a cloud I'll be laughing out loud. I'll be laughing with everyone I see. Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all. |
Don't break me down
I've been travelin' too long I've been trying too hard With one pretty song I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind So, I just ride, just ride, I just ride, just ride I always cry when I listen this song |
george ezra.. budapest.. it is just a beatiful song and text.
Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away My many artifacts The list goes on If you just say the words I'll up and run i would more likely post a korean love song.. but it sounds bad once it is translated into english :% |
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life |
And a little bit of this
And a little bit of that And shake your butt *clap clap clap clap* |
You're the one who raped your superintendent On the rooftop tied his hands and feet to the fence You sucked his cock and fucked the man immobile You paid your daddy's rent |
O quam sancta, quam serena, quam benigma, quam amoena, O castitatis Lilium.
|
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you Fuck you... From Lilly Allen "Fuck you" |
That you and I could learn to love again After all this time Maybe that is how I knew you were the one That you could still believe in me again And after all our trials Maybe that is how I knew you were the one To awake I know We made it through the storm And someone saves their sweet embrace For you and you alone |
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart There's a chance we could make it now We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down I believe in a thing called love Ooh! |
You can tell
From the scars on my arms And the cracks on my hips And the dents in my car And the blisters on my lips That I'm not the carefullest of girls You can tell From the glass on the floor And the strings that're breaking And I keep on breaking more And it looks like I am shaking But it's just the temperature And then again If it were any colder I could disengage If I were any older I could act my age But I don't think that you'd believe me It's Not The Way I'm Meant To Be It's just the way the operation made me And you can tell From the state of my room That they let me out too soon And the pills that I ate Came a couple years too late And I've got some issues to work through There I go again Pretending to be you Make-believing That I have a soul beneath the surface Trying to convince you It was accidentally on purpose I am not so serious This passion is a plagiarism I might join your century But only on a rare occasion I was taken out Before the labor pains set in and now Behold the world's worst accident I am the girl anachronism And you can tell By the red in my eyes And the bruises on my thighs And the knots in my hair And the bathtub full of flies That I'm not right now at all There I go again Pretending that I'll fall Don't call the doctors Cause they've seen it all before They'll say just Let Her Crash And Burn She'll learn The attention just encourages her And you can tell From the full-body cast That you're sorry that you asked Though you did everything you could (like any decent person would) But I might be catching so don't touch You'll start believing you're immune to gravity and stuff Don't get me wet Because the bandages will all come off And you can tell From the smoke at the stake That the current state is critical Well it is the little things, for instance... In the time it takes to break it she can make up ten excuses... Please excuse her for the day, its just the way the medication makes her... I don't necessarily believe there is a cure for this So I might join your century but only as a doubtful guest I was too precarious removed as a caesarian Behold the worlds worst accident I AM THE GIRL ANACHRONISM [x5] I'm the girl... [x3] I AM THE GIRL ANACHRONISM |
Baby, instant soup doesn't really grab me,
today I need something more sub-subt-sub-sub-substantial. A can of beans, some black eyed peas, some Nescafe and ice. A candy bar, a fallen star, or a reading from Dr Seuss. |
I'm not really a fan of lyrics, as I consider the voice as an instrument rather than giving meaning to a song. This was probably the only song I don't think this, as it got me thinking.
There's got to be just more to it Than this Or tell me why do we exist I'd like to think that when I die I'd get a chance another time And to return and live again Reincarnate, play the game Again and again and again and again |
Two!
"Shailoh Shailoh, yatreet ka...
Shailoh omen nio hah.... Shailoh Shailoh, yatreet ka... Shailoh shna.. otvit ka... Hahla Hahla.. ahlah hah.... Shailoh washnee.. fortee ney..." (A lullaby or 'Cheza's Song' from Wolf's Rain sang in a language known as Gaelic (Ireland) that is no longer used, declassified in 1822.) Rough Translation: "Great Wolf, Great Wolf, you are safe... Great Wolf.. I will protect you... Hahla Hahla.. ahlah hah.... Great Wolf, rest your soul... Great Wolf, rest your soul..." (Not perfect, but pretty. The other is from a song by Nicole Dollanganger..) "Well my baby... Has a baby... And it's not me... It's an AK-47 Semi-Automatic gun and he... Loves her more...than he loves me..." |

My favourite band for making the music match the words would be Elbow. Here is what would be my favourite line from an Elbow song: "But there isn't words yet for the comfort I get from the gentle lunette at the top of the nape of the neck that I wake to". Such a beautiful set of words for such a simple image. |
Oh so many songs with amazing lines... Here are a few of my absolute favourites, mostly because they're clever:
.... I'm so happy that I Can't stop crying, I'm laughing through my tears... ... What a nice long leash, What a nice tight noose, Never worked for me but Sure would look good on you... ... So I'm sorry if I ever resisted; I never had a doubt you ever existed, I only have a problem when people insist on Taking their hate, placing it on your name... I could try to explain why I love each one so much, but that's for another time and another post :p |
Jah Jah city, Jah Jah town

Olta Boka - We Put Our Hearts At Stake
The clock ticks like a heart The clock runs crazy, it has no hands You stole the time from my life The coldness of your voice fell on my heart Covering the last shelter of love Ha… ha… And the hands of time stop there Day after day, we Beat after beat, we looked in vain For the perfect clock which a heart can never be Night after night, we Beat after beat, we grew apart But no, we couldn't because we both put our hearts at stake Ah… The clock ticks like a heart The clock runs crazy, it has no hands You stole the time from my life (The coldness of your voice) fell on my heart Covering the last shelter of love Ha… ha… And the hands of time stop there Day after day, we Beat after beat, we looked in vain For the perfect clock which a heart can never be Night after night, we Beat after beat, we grew apart But no, we couldn't because we both put our hearts at stake Ha… |
Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight Someone's thinking of me And loving me tonight Somewhere out there Someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another In that big somewhere out there And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing On the same bright star And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping Underneath the same big sky Somewhere out there If love can see us through Then we'll be together Somewhere out there Out where dreams come true i love this song |
Menacin' methods label me a lethal weapon
Making niggas die witnessin' breathless imperfections Can you picture my specific plan To be the man in this wicked land, underhanded hits are planned Scams are plotted over grams and rocks Outlaws motherfuckers die by the random shots We all die in the end, so revenge we swore I was all about my ends, fuck friends and foes Me, a born leader, never leave the block without my heata Got me a dog and named her mob bitch nigga eata What could they do to me that little brat Shit them niggas shot me and still terrified, I'll get their ass How can I show you how I feel inside We outlawz motherfuckas can't kill my pride Niggas talk a lot of shit but that's after I'm gone Cause they fear me in physical form let it be known I'm troublesome One of the greatest verses ever... |
Not a song but:
If you are a dreamer come in, If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer, If you're a pretender come sit by my fire For we have some flax golden tales to spin.. Come in! Come in! |
Take me to your heart take me to your soul
Give me your hand before I'm old Show me what love is - haven't got a clue Show me that wonders can be true They say nothing lasts forever We're only here today Love is now or never Bring me far away An amazing song :D |
Wish people would put what song the lyrics are from as it's often within the context of the music that the lyrics come to life, on a page in black and white they are not that inspiring. For instance not many of you would want to read a load of German text, but you may love listening to the 4th movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony!
As for my favorite lyrics; "The Ghosts Of Saturday Night (After Hours At Napoleone's Pizza House)" A cab combs the snake, Tryin' to rake in that last night's fare, And a solitary sailor Who spends the facts of his life like small change on strangers... Paws his inside P-coat pocket for a welcome twenty-five cents, And the last bent butt from a package of Kents, As he dreams of a waitress with Maxwell House eyes And marmalade thighs with scrambled yellow hair. Her rhinestone-studded moniker says, "Irene" As she wipes the wisps of dishwater blonde from her eyes And the Texaco beacon burns on, The steel-belted attendant with a 'Ring and Valve Special'... Cryin' "Fill'er up and check that oil" "You know it could be a distributor and it could be a coil." The early mornin' final edition's on the stands, And that town cryer's cryin' there with nickels in his hands. Pigs in a blanket sixty-nine cents, Eggs - roll 'em over and a package of Kents, Adam and Eve on a log, you can sink 'em damn straight, Hash browns, hash browns, you know I can't be late. And the early dawn cracks out a carpet of diamond Across a cash crop car lot filled with twilight Coupe Devilles, Leaving the town in a-keeping Of the one who is sweeping Up the ghost of Saturday night... |
"We all live in a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine..." :D

Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep
It's such a bitter form of refuge Oh don't you know the kingdom's under siege And everybody needs you? Is there still magic in the midnight sun Or did you leave it back in '61? In the cadence of a young man's eyes Out where the dreams are high - A Dustland Fairytale - The Killers |
Neptunian Horizon - Prevail
/7 I can hear your heart now beating.
I can feel the fire in your soul. I can see your arrows drawn and flaming (let ‘em fly). /7 |
Oh oh!
All the rumors are true, I am Satan. Now we knew. Their heads must all come off. BRB I’ll get the saw. Dude, she dropped her cell phone. Pick it up, call the Po – Po. We’ll be dead once they get here. I have a better idea, Sent! |
And we all have so many faces
the real self often erases enticing lies flicker in our eyes (I got cast as Iago in Othello and this fits that perfectly.) |
I need another story
Something to get off my chest My life gets kinda boring Need something that I can confess 'Til all my sleeves are stained red From all the truth that I've said Come by it honestly I swear Thought you saw me wink, no I've been on the brink, so Tell me what you want to hear Something that will light those ears Sick of all the insincere So I'm gonna give all my secrets away |
Just because it's been stuck in my head for about 2 weeks, and it's a great comeback for Def Leppard:
'Welcome to the carnival, Welcome to the party, Welcome to the edge of your seat...' But I think that great lyrics are entirely subjective based upon the time you hear it, not a dry eye in the house had me almost in floods of tears after my fiance left me 3years ago, but now I listen and nothing other than a huge appreciation of it... |
From bring me the horizon
"I can't drown my demons they know how to swim" |
At times this song comes to my mind:
Anywhere you are, I am near Anywhere you go, I'll be there Anytime you whisper my name, you'll see How every single promise I'll keep 'Cause what kind of guy would I be If I was to leave when you need me most What are words If you really don't mean them When you say them What are words If they're only for good times Then that's all When it's love Yeah, you say them out loud Those words, they never go away They live on, even when we're gone (Chris Medina: What are words) |
If it wasn't for Monoxide and Violent J
that nigga Jack, Shaggy 2 Dope and Blaze Ya Dead Homie I probably would've given up it called it quits I probably wouldn't be here, I probably wouldn't be the shit |
I've gotta take this opportunity before I miss it,
'cause now I hear the sirens and they're off in the distance Believe me when I tell ya' that I've been persistent 'cause I'm more scared: more scared than my wrist is. |
its got to be... stand bye me by benny king

Kitchen sink by 21- pilots
Nobody thinks what I think, Nobody dreams when they blink Think things on the brink of blasphemy I'm my own shrink Think things are after me, my catastrophe I'm a kitchen sink, You don't know what that means Because a kitchen sink to you Is not a kitchen sink to me, OK friend? Are you searching for purpose? Then write something, yeah it might be worthless Then paint something then, it might be wordless Pointless curses, nonsense verses You'll see purpose start to surface No one else is dealing with your demons Meaning maybe defeating them Could be the beginning of your meaning, friend. Go away [4x] Leave me alone [7x] Nobody thinks what you think, no one Empathy might be on the brink of extinction They will play a game and say They know what you're going through And I tried to come up with an artistic way to say They don't know you, and neither do I So here's a prime example of a stand up guy Who hates what he believes and loves it at the same time Here's my brother and his head's screwed up But that's alright. [Zack:] Time gains momentum the moment when I'm living in 'em I'm winning a momentary sinning a moment passing after A re-beginning moments mending memories Pretending enemies are frenemies, sending me straight to bending me My bad behavior but I bet I could have been a better man Copy and paste caught me, and copy, better rhymes bother me The better the rhythm the badder I am but I bet I'll battle with 'em battle Better I am, Gambling man, better bet I am a gambling man, I am? Go away [4x] Leave me alone [4x] Leave me alone Don't leave me alone. Oh [5x] |

The Sound of Silence rendition sung by Disturbed
/7 People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs That voices never share And no one dare Disturb the sound of silence... /7 |
From the movie ~ Babe
"If I had words" from the movie, based on music by Camille Saint-Saens (of France), Lyrics by Scott Fitzgerald (of the United States)
