You could also play this by points. Like a pawn is one clothes peg being it would be one point. The knight and bishop are each 3 points so they could be 3 of something each differently like 3 spanks or 3 ice cubes. Then the rooks are 5 points so they could be 5 of any of the above. Then the queen being 9 could be 9 of everything. Then you could also add the points to make punishments worse like say there was 3 pawns left and a rook and someone got checkmate before taking all the pieces there would be 32 points. Then that cold correspond to 32 lashes or pegs or some other point system. But individual point values being accumulative could add more punishment.
