See it mentioned a lot but has always flagged up in my head that it may be something the slave is expecting to be required so not really a "punishment" or a chore at all.

Or is it simply a case of master preference?

If it is meant to be a chore or a punishment why not only go with 50% / left side shaved? :o

Is it just a formality?

See my first thoughts on the matter were not head shaving but more nether regions, can just as easily be applied to both!
