A new getDare launches! [Archive]

I spent the night launching the new getDare. I'm sure there are bugs and problems so please report them here. The TORD Archives are not ready yet and will be launched later. I need sleep.

I'll do more work when I wake up. Enjoy all the new toys! :) I'm hoping things don't blow up while I sleep. :D

Depp, appreciate the changes and all, but would it be possible to be able to singularly edit ALL chat sounds?

Previously I could knock them all on the head barring PM's, that way I could stay signed into the chat and not hear a dozen sounds every minute during a fast discussion, and yet still know if I had a PM while doing other work.

As it is, I either keep all the sounds on, and get annoyed very fast, or I turn them all off and check for a PM every 5 minutes, thus distracting me from doing anything else.

Pretty sure I wont be the only one who would like to turn off the basic message sound.

I personaly don't really like this new lay out, but I'm sure some users do. The chat isn't that bad.

the chat caused some problems for me. i couldn't log into it using firefox (though others could), but was able to log in with google chrome.

scratch the firefox thing, worked for me now.

also, the keyboard and the chat seems to be set on different things, when i try to type a "?" for example, a "+" pops up. and the left ")" is a "*", plus i can't type the ":" sign.

there's many more symbols i can't type or is located other places, though half the keyboard seems to work.. ^^

don't know if you people even can do anything about it, but wanted to notify.

also, i'm using an european keyboard (danish), it worked fine with the old chat.

The chat may need a bowser refresh, cache clearing, and restart to work again for you. I'll look into the keyboard and sound issues.

I've looked into a few of the chat issues people have reported to me already.

It seems the version of the chat we are now running is a little buggy. I'm gonna see if there are any temporary hacks I can do to ease the pain for some of these issues. I may have to downgrade to the old version if the bugs can't be patched.

I personally miss having the "Chat" button at the top of my screen like it used to have. Other than that, great job depp. Looks very nice.

In chat:
the side is no longer alphabetical.
there's no longer a color scheme.
I can't change any of my settings like my emoticon or anything..
no longer changes to the middle of the page when I go in.

Just some little annoyances. Chat sucks but the rest of the site is cool, from what I have seen.

Holy. Crap. I intended to come off hiatus last night at 3 AMish, and saw that the site was down. And then came on. And was amazed. Great job - the background colors on the thread names seem a bit off now, but it's very cool nonetheless.

How about fixing the albums? Everytime I click the link on the "custimize profeil" page it...like...says I'm banned or/ don't have access. It's very confusing!

The truth or dare story section allows me to read R18 stories, but it has given me a note in the last thread column saying:

You are under allowed age. Last Post info not available!

Considering I am of age, seems a little odd :)

I've added a ban list under the "Quick Links" menu at the top of the page. Hope this helps you out. :)

The chat has a lot of little problems and they are very far down on my list of things to do. I did not write the chat so making changes is a pain in the butt.

Both work fine for me in Firefox and I've also tested it in IE and Opera. Trying clearing your cache.

Are you possibly not using Firefox 3? Do you have Javascript and cookies enabled?

I developed the site testing every page with Firefox 3, Chrome, Opera 10, Safari, and IE (6,7, and 8). I did not test with anything earlier than Firefox 3 because there are hardly any Firefox users who don't update regularly. You could have a caching issues. Maybe try flushing your cache and restarting your browser.

Unless you can give me much more information about your setup and configuration I can't really look into this issue. I've tested the site on an array of different machines and configurations and feel confidant it works. The chat does have a few minor issues and the ads on some pages have some bugs I need to fix, but everything should function.

Still not working on firefox for me :( Not to worry though i have download safari 4 and i can see get dare fully now without any glitches. Annoying though as i hate all internet browsers except firefox. All the rest are so slow. They drive me up the wall :wall:

I don't know if it's just me but sometimes the chat kind of freezes. I can see the conversation I just had and I can hear the blings of people talking but nothing comes up.

Also the censor in the chat...does there have to be one? I would rather wear sunglasses than sungl arses. :(

Almost all of the CSS (and PHP) was written by hand using Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm) and gedit (http://projects.gnome.org/gedit/). With a few of the page elements where alignment was tricky Dreamweaver was used because I needed to see instantly what the position looked like.

Before launch all my CSS was then run though Flumpcake's CSS Optimiser (http://flumpcakes.co.uk/css/optimiser/) (best optimiser I have ever tried!) to save on size. Javascirpt was run through the Yahoo! YUI Compressor (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/compressor/).

I have noticed the sensoring and stuff. I'm not sure if that was there before but it is getting annoying. I try to type something like "glass" and it comes up as "gl arse". Is there anyway that could be changed?

I am assuming you are talking about that chat. I removed the chat censors a day ago (I forgot they were on) so it should all be fine now.

I just made a few minor bug fixes to the code that handles comments on the front page. If anyone is unable to post comments as a result please PM me. It would be a big help to me if people could post useful (not fluff or spam) comments to items on the front page to help test it out.
